Detailed itinerary

Arrive in Antananarivo, the lively capital of Madagascar. Settle in to your centrally-located hotel where you can rest and get ready for the exciting adventure that awaits.

Depart the capital and drive eastwards to Andasibe throughout the eastern slopes. En route, visit the reserve of Peyrieras at Mandraka. In Andasibe, you’ll visit the VOIMMA nature reserve managed by the local community,

Today you’ll have the opportunities to hike within the Mantadia Reserve – a protected area of primary rainforest rich in wildlife including the famous indri lemurs amongst others. If you wish, you have the possibility of camping at Maromizaha Reserve – another reserve by the neighborhood of Andasibe. This is a must for nature lovers as it allows night and very early morning exploration.

This morning, you’ll take a hike through part of Analamazaotra National Park. This place is also home for the largest species of lemur, the indri, which stands about a meter tall and has black and white colouring. Later, pay a visit to Lemurs’ Island before we drive back to Antananarivo.

This morning you’ll touch down at Morondava’s airport from where you’ll drive northwards to Kirindy Reserve. The route passes many of Madagascar’s iconic baobab trees, instantly recognisable because of their bulbous trunks and spindly branches. As dusk settles over the Kirindy Reserve, embark on a night walk within this dry forest where you’ll have the opportunity to spot nocturnally-active animals.

After a leisurely morning walking safari inside the reserve of Kirindy, continue driving northwards to Tsingy de Bemaraha through a red lateritic and sandy road.

Early this morning, you’ll depart for the Grand Tsingy. There, we’ve planned a day hike; we’ll suggest the Broadway or Andamozavaky trail depending on the pace you’d prefer to set and the physical conditions at the time of your visit.

In the morning, board a pirogue to ride upstream on the Manambolo River where you’ll soon reach a cave brimming with stalagmites and stalactites, typical of the Tsingy area. As you lay eyes on ancient tombs and relics, learn more about the Vazimba, early inhabitants of Madagascar who are thought to have been a pygmy people.

Drive back southwards. We’ll time the journey carefully to ensure we arrive at the Avenue of the Baobabs, also classified as a World heritage by the UNESCO.. Watch as the sky turns a soft yellow and then reddens, silhouetting a cluster of baobabs to the delight of those who have gathered.

You will rise early this morning to reach sunrise and its magical lights at the Baobab Avenue Back in Morondava, you’ll take a city tour when you’ll have a chance to see some of the street art of this bustling place and visit the local market. Afterwards, take a sightseeing tour by pirogue to the surrounding mangroves. There’ll also be time today to relax and enjoy the amenities of your hotel and the nearby beach.

Today, catch a flight back to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, you may wish to shop for souvenirs at the handicraft market .

In the morning, you will have a leisurely city tour of the Malagasy capital which includes – the renovated Queen’s Palace, which occupies a commanding position on a hilltop overlooking the city. You can also participate in a cooking class with a Malagasy chef to learn local flavors and culinary skills.”

For the rest of the day, it is open to any other activities: you might choose to head slightly out of the city to Rovan’ Ambohimanga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s a fortified Royal settlement.
Dine out in Antananarivo as you round off your trip and prepare to fly home.

  • Palmarium Reserve on Day 4
